The owner of an Econo Lodge in Tonawanda is proposing a three-story Motel 6 with 74 rooms on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls.

Paresh Patel, owner of the Econo Lodge in Tonawanda, has proposed constructing a 28,000-square-foot hotel with 92 parking spaces that would be located on a vacant commercial parcel at 9100 Niagara Falls Boulevard near Anthony Street.

The Niagara Falls Planning Board will review a site plan for the hotel during a meeting at 6 p.m. tonight in City Hall.

The board will also review site plans for a new dental office on Niagara Falls Boulevard, as well as a new application for a nine-story glass building on Rainbow Boulevard that once housed the Occidental Chemical headquarters.

Stuart Weinstein, a dentist with Advanced Dental on 9501 Niagara Falls Blvd., has proposed building a 2,600-square-foot dental office with 23 parking spaces on a lot at 8430 Niagara Falls Blvd.

Two buildings on the site would need to be demolished for the project, according to plans submitted by the city.

Frank Parlato, an owner of the former Occidental Chemical building, has submitted site plans for an indoor visitors center on the first floor of the existing building and a paved parking lot.

In a letter dated Feb. 16 describing the project, attorney Paul Grenga said the ground floor of the building would be used again as a “visitor amenity services center” with washrooms, snack bars, restaurants and retail sales. Tour sales will also be operated from the building.

Plans call for 124 parking spaces on a paved lot with landscaping around the site. The property is currently not paved. The site last year drew complaints that Parlato was operating a paid parking lot on the gravel site.

Parlato said last year he planned to pave the parking lot after the land had settled. The property had been the site of a 40-foot hole dug by a previous developer for a failed proposal to build an underground aquarium.
