Frank Parlato Jr: Farina new face of Falls Landmark

As reported in the Buffalo News, former newspaper and TV journalist Tony Farina has left his job as an aide to City of Buffalo Comptroller Andrew SanFilippo to become “the face” of the iconic former Hooker Chemical building in downtown Niagara Falls.

Picture that. Cannon Design calls it “one of the most energy efficient commercial buildings in the world.” Also one of the most underutilized.

Isn’t this the same Hooker Chemie of Love Canal infamy?

This building is no longer the energy effiecient edifice that it once was as the in-between the glass louvers controlling sunlight-heat-light-levels no longer work and haven’t for about 15 or 20 years. Cannon Design engineering firm certainly must know this, unless that is, the owner came up with the $$ to replace thermostats, servo-motors, etcetera. Didn’t know that the louvers and gear took precedence over the building code issues.

Farina’s got his work cut out for him. And besides, why are these Buffalo dudes going to Niagara Falls?
